歪果仁學中文時，總是躲不過繞口令挑戰(zhàn)。

近年來，隨著漢語熱的興起，基本上每個漢語學習者都能說出一段入門級的中文繞口令。比如，“四是四，十是十”，或者“吃葡萄不吐葡萄皮”。

可是學了這么多年英語的你挑戰(zhàn)過英文繞口令嗎？

據(jù)《每日郵報》報道，荷蘭詩人Gerard Nolst Trenité在1922年創(chuàng)作了一首名為《混亂》（The Chaos）的詩，并放話稱：

Only a true master of the English language can pronounce all the words in this poem.
只有真正精通英語的人才能讀出這首詩里的所有單詞。

這段英文繞口令的起始難度比較簡單，可是越往后讀，難度就會逐漸升級。

甚至連一些英語為母語的挑戰(zhàn)者都表示讀到后面，整個人都不好了。有人最后干脆放棄。

But be careful how you speak:

Exiles, similes, and reviles;

Scholar, vicar, and cigar,

Solar, mica, war and far;

One, anemone, Balmoral,

Kitchen, lichen, laundry, laurel;

Billet does not rhyme with ballet,

Bouquet, wallet, mallet, chalet.

Blood and flood are not like food,

Nor is mould like should and would.

Viscous, viscount, load and broad,

Toward, to forward, to reward.

And your pronunciation's OK

When you correctly say croquet,

Rounded, wounded, grieve and sieve,

Friend and fiend, alive and live.

Ivy, privy, famous; clamour

And enamour rhyme with hammer.

River, rival, tomb, bomb, comb,

Doll and roll and some and home.

Stranger does not rhyme with anger,

Neither does devour with clangour.

Souls but foul, haunt but aunt,

Font, front, wont, want, grand, and grant,

Shoes, goes, does. Now first say finger,

And then singer, ginger, linger,

Real, zeal, mauve, gauze, gouge and gauge,

Marriage, foliage, mirage, and age.

Compare alien with Italian,

Dandelion and battalion.

Sally with ally, yea, ye,

Eye, I, ay, aye, whey, and key.

Say aver, but ever, fever,

Neither, leisure, skein, deceiver.

Heron, granary, canary.

Crevice and device and aerie.

Pronunciation -- think of Psyche!

Is a paling stout and spikey?

Won't it make you lose your wits,

Writing groats and saying grits?

It's a dark abyss or tunnel:

Strewn with stones, stowed, solace, gunwale,

Islington and Isle of Wight,

Housewife, verdict and indict.

Finally, which rhymes with enough --

Though, through, plough, or dough, or cough?

Hiccough has the sound of cup.

My advice is to give up!!!
